"The Gifts They Brought"
December 18th, 2008: North Pole - CAMRYN MANHEIM STEAMROLLER

This coming Saturday marks the last pre-Christmas performance of the trio this year. And while the guys are in a particularly festive holiday mood, they wanted to pass along the spirit of the season in true GP3 fashion - a sort of 'Gift of Music' if you will.

Many of you know that it's the season that the guys assume their alter egos of Camryn Manheim Steamroller; a group born out of a comedy act that Matthew and George did several years ago. The holiday jokes are resurrected each December, dusted off, and thrust upon an unsuspecting public at shopping malls, restaurants, and corporate Christmas parties.

Matthew and George alter the lyrics to well-known classic rock and pop songs to make them more... uh...'Christmasy'. The result is a silly and eclectic grouping of tunes never heard back to back. They offer an odd mix ranging from Johnny Cash to Radiohead, Sinatra to the Rolling Stones. George reveals "When Matt and I started changing these song lyrics, one of my main goals was come up with something so absurd and ridiculous that he (Matthew) wouldn't be able to continue playing for laughing so hard. But this usually backfires on me, and I end up being the one who loses it."

As our 'gift' to GP3 supporters this year, we have made many of the CAMRYN MANHEIM STEAMROLLER recordings available to you online. In order to conserve memory on the GP3 site, we've uploaded the audio (sorry no video) to YouTube. As an added benefit, this makes the file sharing easier for you to send to co-workers, family, friends, enemies, etc. Sure, it's not Frankincense, Gold, or Myrrh, but in these uncertain economic times, it's the best we can do.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
